About Us

Serving the Community since 1911

Our Mission

The mission of the Belyea’s Cove Community Hall is to promote, develop and provide the community with a facility in which to gather for special events, meetings or leisure activity. Come an experience the heart of the friendly Belyea’s Cove!

About Our Hall

Old Hall Picture

The Belyea’s Cove Hall was brought across the ice in the winter of 1911 from Big Cove. It was used in the early days for social events such as games, pie socials, community showers and sewing circles. The quilt frames were set up on the second floor and quilts would have been worked on by many women in the community over the years. It was the centre of the small community and young and old alike would have looked forward with anticipation to the social events!

In the 1980s the hall was raised and a foundation built under it. It housed a kitchen in the basement and increased utilization of the hall for events requiring kitchen facilities such as breakfasts and lunches. Back to back major flooding in 2018/19 rendered the basement unusable. At this time the community met, and agreed to pursue funding to upgrade the hall to move the kitchen upstairs and use only the main floor. Many renovations and upgrades including a brand new kitchen, insulation, more efficient heating and windows have given us a community hall that is well positioned to serve the community with a long and bright future!

Our communities are pleased to celebrate the renovation of this facility, which will have long lasting impact on this area. We are grateful for the support of the federal, provincial governments as well as Sussex & Area Community Foundation. As a community, we thank all who made this a reality.

From community breakfast to playgroups the community hall has provided the only place to meet within this rural community, providing vital and diverse support to improve quality of life, particularly for those who are least able to travel to more distant centres of activity.

The Community hall is an important hub for activities in Belyea’s Cove from weddings, community music nights, community meals, family reunions and a meeting place for community groups.

We service the communities of Henderson Settlement, Shannon, Belyea’s Cove, McDonalds Point, Carpenter, Bald Hill and Wickham.

Now in existence for well over 100 years, Belyeas Cove Community Hall continues to strive to expand its offerings to the community. We hope you will be able to take part in one or more of the many exciting events we offer and experience firsthand the pride we take in supporting our community.

We are a nonprofit organization and in order to meet our mission and provide service to our community we rely on the attendance to our events. We thank you in advance for your support
